Covenant Home School Resource Center is delighted to announce the "Flags for Patriots" Essay Contest, where participants have the opportunity to win a set of flags, including one United States flag and one Arizona state flag. CHSRC originally purchased these flags for a group that can no longer use them, and we now want to bless another group or organization that can put these flags to meaningful use.

 

Eligibility

1. Open to homeschool individuals, groups, and organizations located within Arizona.

 

2. Participants must be 18 years of age or younger and have parental/guardian consent.

 

Essay Guidelines

To enter the "Flags for Patriots" Essay Contest, please follow these guidelines:

 

1. Essay Length: Essays should be between 500 and 800 words in length.

 

2. Essay Content: In your essay, address the following points:

  

  a. Explain who your group or organization is and its purpose or mission.

 

  b. Describe how receiving a set of flags, including the United States flag and the Arizona state flag, would benefit your group.

 

  c. Share your plans for how you would use these flags to further your group's goals, values, or activities.

 

  d. Highlight the importance of patriotism in your group or organization and how these flags would symbolize those values.

 

  e. Express your commitment to preserving and respectfully displaying the flags.

 

3. Submission Format: Submit your essay in a PDF or Word document format. The essay should be typed, double-spaced, and use a legible font.

 

How to Submit

Email your essay as an attachment to info@chsrc.org with the subject line: "Flags of Unity Essay Contest Submission - [Your Name]."

 

Prizes

The following prizes will be awarded:

 

- First Place: One United States flag and one Arizona state flag, poles and weighted stands (as pictured above), along with a certificate of recognition.

 

Judging Criteria

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

 

- Clarity and organization of ideas.

- Creativity and originality.

- Relevance to the theme.

- Demonstrated need for the flags.

- Feasibility of the proposed use.

 

Deadline

All essay submissions must be received by November 10, 2023.

 

Winner Announcement

The winner will be notified by email no later than November 17, 2023.

 

Additional Information

1. By submitting an essay, you grant CHSRC permission to publish your essay (or excerpts from it) on our website or in promotional materials.

 

2. The winner must pick up the flags at CHSRC, 2940 W Bethany Home Rd. Phoenix AZ 85017 no later than November 21, 2023.

 

3. The decision of the judges is final.
