The Arizona HOMESCHOOL HeartBeat
Monthly E-letter

Even though Arizona is in our name,
we also cover news items of interest across the nation.
Dear Homeschooling Friends,
This year is really flying by, isn’t it? Somehow, in the busyness of this season of my life, I feel a little disjointed, and sometimes mentally picture myself in the I Love Lucy episode in which Lucy and Ethel are working in a chocolate factory. They work frantically to wrap the candies as the conveyor belt moves faster and faster. Pretty soon, all they can do is stuff the unwrapped pieces somewhere—anywhere—to avoid losing them altogether.
In our family, it seems that we always end up with several significant life changes in the same year. My oldest daughter is getting married in two weeks, my husband has been laying ceramic tile in the kitchen and hallway, and I am doing some restructuring of my job duties, and training new people.

What is this about my job?
Don't worry. I am not retiring from the homeschool community nor from Covenant. I am, however, transitioning to fewer duties so that I can spend more time with my family and being obedient to some directions in which God is directing me. Between now and August 31, I will be handing off a lot of my tasks to Gregg Donnell, whom we have hired to help relieve
some of my load. Beginning in September, I will be available once a month at each of our campuses (Devonshire, West and North Scottsdale) to do a Q and A time and a workshop on topics relevant to you (Getting started, Learning Styles, Transcripts, Finding Curriculum, etc.)
I am really proud of the current staff at CHSRC. Heather White, the bookstore manager, is doing a fabulous job of having wonderful book bargains for you. She is very capable and is blossoming in her role. Talk to her about any book needs that you have, and keep watching our monthly specials!
Robyn Taylor has been with Covenant since January, running the front office and taking care of billing and customer accounts. She is really on top of the customer information and is a delight to talk to about your account.
Gregg Donnell just joined our staff in April, and has already won the hearts of the women in the office by fixing several computer issues! He will be taking over from me the following duties: Computer and website maintenance (and improvement!), PR, publications, fundraising, liaison with support groups and resources, scheduling of classes and teachers, giving oversight to the CHSRC
program (and other duties as assigned.) He will be working alongside of me for the next four months, learning what I do and gradually taking on the duties. He comes with a diverse background in computers, management, grant writing and thinking outside the box.
We believe that the changes in roles will allow us greater responsiveness to the needs of our customers and a more streamlined operation. We encourage your questions and look forward to continuing to be there to Equip you for a successful homeschool journey!
Here is a BRIEF summary of a few of the items we have for you this month.
