OFF-SITE CLASS MEMBERSHIP POLICIES
- Families taking classes at off-site locations need to be current class members of Covenant Home School Resource Center. The fee is $35.00, and is good for the whole family for twelve months. This provides insurance coverage for students while
they are in CHSRC classes. (Co-op Group members taking an off-site class together as part of their co-op may be have a special group rate.)
- Membership entitles families to the following benefits:
- Curriculum rental at $2 per semester per student book, $5 per semester per teacher book. Semesters are: mid-August to mid-December, January 1 to Memorial Day, Memorial Day to mid-August.* Books may be rented for more than one semester.
- Student testing at member rates which are discounted from the non-member rates as follows: $5 per IOWA or Stanford test, $2 per PSAT test
- Additional 2% discount on book orders over in-house discount schedule. (This may not be combined with monthly specials. The largest discount available will be applied)
- Special Members-Only opportunities or bonuses from time to time.
- Credit of $5 per semester per off-site class enrollment to be used for book rental or mailing of books to you.
- IOWA testing can be done at your location with a minimum of 10 students with arrangement two months in advance with our testing coordinator. Please see our Testing Information for full details.
- Book orders, library rentals, memberships, class fees, testing and class registrations, and ID cards can be handled by mail or email plus Paypal for your convenience.
- Each off-site location will have 1-2 administrative families, based on the size of the group who will share oversight responsibilities, and will receive free CHSRC membership, Please see the following pages for full details.
- Classes begin the week of Labor Day, and end the week before Memorial Day. Christmas break will generally be for three weeks, and spring break is for a week in mid-March.

Off-site Class Requirements
for Covenant Home School Resource Center Satellite Classes
- All students must be members of CHSRC in order to be covered by insurance
- Students must have class registration information on file at CHSRC office
- New students need to be approved by teacher for space and appropriate placement
- Payments will be made to CHSRC by the first of the month
- One designated parent must be on-site during all classes.
- A phone should be available for emergencies.
- Parents will sign a release of liability waiver
- 2-3 families should be the administrative core who will manage the following duties:
- A minimum of 5 students are needed for each class in order for CHSRC to procure a teacher.
- Procurement of facility
- Facility liaison
- Monitoring of set up and clean up needs
- Teacher and student sign-in and attendance
- Questions from parents about the classes or CHSRC
- Calling CHSRC for problems or absent teacher
- Monitoring of children before and after class while waiting for parent pick-up
- Being available to manage a class if needed as a sub
- A packet of information and instructions will be provided to the administrators
- A self-addressed envelope will be provided for mailing registrations and payments back to CHSRC on a monthly basis.
- Administrative families will receive the following benefits:
i. Free membership to CHSRC for the duration of the class administration (if position is held the full school year, the membership is good for 12 months from start of class)
ii. Occasional discount coupons for library rental or bookstore purchase at CHSRC
iii. Membership discounts for CHSRC services such as testing
- Teachers will be responsible for the following:
- Preparing a syllabus (lesson plans) at least in outline form for the year and with details of assignments for the coming month. These need to be submitted to CHSRC office and the administrative core by the beginning of the month so questions about the class can be fielded.
i. An alternative lesson plan should be on file with the administrative core to be used if needed. (educational game or video related to the subject)
- Submitting names and contact information of possible substitutes in case of unavoidable absence. These should be people who are able to “pitch hit” for the subject matter at hand.
- Submitting emergency plan to CHSRC for dealing with personal family emergency situations that impinge on class time.
- Ensuring that instructor’s children who are present during the class are in the adequate care of a responsible person to minimize class disruptions
- Verifying student attendance and mailing sheet to CHSRC at end of class. (or have administrative parents send it in)
- Prompt arrival and full time completion for all classes
- Handling of discipline matters in accordance with CHSRC policy
- Notification to CHSRC if unavoidable absences will be upcoming. Teacher is responsible for getting a substitute—either from the parents or trusted outside individual.
i. If a substitute is used, the sub will get the teacher’s pay for that period.
ii. Substitutes may be paid by direct check from CHSRC if necessary.
- Teachers may be a W-4 employee or 1099 independent contract employee.
- Either one must fill out appropriate employment forms
- Payment will be through CHSRC payroll on a monthly basis
- Direct deposit of paycheck is available

Off-site Location Requirements
for Covenant Home School Resource Center Satellite Classes
1. Location should have adequate space for classroom set-up with tables, chairs, whiteboard or adequate instructional display area.
2. Site should have a place for waiting parents and siblings to stay during class time
3. Classroom area should be suitable for instruction and free of distracting non-class items
Off-site Requirements for Parents
in Covenant Home School Resource Center Satellite Classes
- Parents will need to be members of CHSRC, and fill out appropriate class registration forms and pay appropriate fees before child may attend class.
- Teachers will need to be notified of new students the week prior to first attendance in order to have appropriate materials and books on hand.
- Parents will need to notify Teacher and/or administrative parent prior to class time when child will be absent, and will be responsible for getting the missed work.
- Parents will need to sign student in at arrival and sign student out at departure.
- Monthly class payments may be mailed to CHSRC by the beginning of each month, or may be given to class administrators at the beginning of the month.
- Parents will need to make arrangements to have child picked up within 15 minutes after class is completed so other parents are not kept waiting with the child.
- Teacher and class administrators are not providing childcare and will need to take care of their own responsibilities.
- If parent is unable to retrieve child within 15 minutes, parent will be billed for the time at $10 per hour per child--$2.50 for every 15 minute interval or portion thereof. Time will begin at 16 minutes after class ending with a minimum of $5.00 per child.
- Children may not be dropped of earlier than 15 minutes before class unless arrangements have been made with another adult to supervise.
- If the class is held in a home, please be respectful of the family that resides there. Clean up your own area, keep track of your children, be protective of the teacher’s and family’s time with the same consideration that you would want for your own home.
